Endings...& Beginnings

Sigh... it's been a very wacky 2008. Weird weather, US elections, recessions, and many other significant events have happened.

After a lot of rain the past few days, it's suddenly very hot today! To think that my father still wants to go for golf under the blazing sun. Meanwhile, my brother and cousin's watching Secret (不能说的秘密), being impressed by the immense skill displayed through the piano performances. There were quite a number of people, however, who find the movie ending very ridiculous. I haven't watched it, but I roughly know the ending. Not telling you, though!

Gloomy Christmas

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
'Cos all we get are shade of grey...

I opened my eyes. It was 9.43 am, but the skies said otherwise; the clouds swallowed up the sun, and it became pretty dark. The rain just added on to the gloomy atmosphere. And the lack of heat.

Not the most pleasurable way of starting Christmas eve. On the other side of the globe, people can wake up to a beautiful scene of snow-covered paths with skeletal trees poking out of the white mass. Although the weather has been wacky this year, and America(some parts of it) is experiencing heavy servings of snow.

Solve this rebus.

Answer to #1: bee

Riddle #1

Here's a riddle for you to try and solve. You can post your guess as a comment to this post, or in the cbox. Either one of those methods, just don't email me the answer. I don't like to see my inbox fill up with rubbish. :(

I resemble one and two,
but consist of three.
You might find some of us
Under a shady tree.
We work hard for our master
And we are always busy.
I hope this poem's sufficient
To solve this mystery:

What am I?

A Very Short Post

I'm really very bored. My brother's on the computer because he's watching some Japanese drama called Absolute Boyfriend. Heard of it? That's why I'm using the laptop instead.

Like I mentioned earlier, this is a short post. I just don't know what to put here.

Oh well. Next post will definitely be longer. Promise.

I've changed the game again. Monochrome II is just too challenging. I've gone for something less challenging. I would have put Winterbells on my blog, but I think the creator prevented anyone from taking his work, so embedding is useless. Bummer. But you can still go to the original website to play this simple, yet possibly addicting, game.

If you're wondering what this game is about, here's a simple explanation: you control a cute rabbit with your mouse. The objective is to jump on floating bells to get as high as possible. Each bell you jump on will increase your score exponentially. The catch: as you get higher, the bells get smaller nd harder to accurately land on. Occasionally, you can also jump on passing birds too, which double your current score. Seems like a suitable and fun game for this Christmas.

I've already found out which class I'll be in next year. The problem is, I don't know who else is in my class. My classmates who have declared their future class to everybody won't be with me next year. Maybe because my subject combination is unique to the class. At least not everyone has announced their future class yet, or I'll probably be flying solo...

However, is it really such a bad thing if I end up in a new class which is completely made up of strangers? I might make new friends which are even better than the ones that I have now, or I might even be together with some of my Rosyth classmates again.

Recently I also had 2 weird dreams:

24 Nov 2008

From now onwards, I'll be using proper punctuation. Just to practise before typing essays on the computer.

Right now I'm watching Die Another Day, another of the Bond movies. Recently I also watched Quantum of Solace, which critics claim show the best of Bond. Previously people were all protesting over the replacement of Pierce Brosnan as Bond, and yet now everyone doesn't mind having a blond Bond, joke unintended.

Most of the theme songs that go with the Bond movies, if not all, land onto the top spots in the music charts. Even the latest one, Another Way to Die, became famous. Although the title reminds me of Die Another Day. Hmm...

Today during guitar session, We were given christmas songs to learn. And one of them was, surprise, Jingle Bells. (Probably not so bizarre, since christmas will arrive in about 30 days and 5 hours. And I don't need a countdown timer on my blog to tell me that.) Today was also the last guitar session of the year. Something else to celebrate to warm up the crowd.

The other song was just as popular: Frosty the Snowman. I've searched for info on it in Wikipedia (hey, it does have lots of information), and this is what I got:

20 Nov 2008

sigh, tonight's the finale of "I Survived a Japanese Gameshow". who knew the craziest idea would be such a hit on tv?

anyway, christmas is slowly blending into the environment. christmas carols played in the shopping mall, christmas trees set up and decorated, shopping discounts for the festive season; preparations are being made early.

one unique thing about christmas is that it's greatly celebrated by many people, even those that don't even follow the religion. maybe the custom of giving presents to each other appeals to the majority. then again, chinese new year also involves giving away red packets full of money, and yet it's not as celebrated as christmas. probably due to the language barrier.

barclay's open is here again, which means nothing on tv. except dust.

and i downloaded o2mania. good to be back.

i've changed the blog a bit. ok, it's not so minor, but i added a music playlist just for fun. at least i don't put it on autostart, otherwise it can get irritating clicking the pause button everytime you come to my blog. and once again, it's black. what else would you expect?

also, you may have noticed that the font is different now. and i removed the garfield comic strips below. the widget occasionally relocates the archives, so i end up staring at a blank space or, in the latest case, a weird picture of bruce lee. (?!?)

14 Nov 2008

i'm thinking of downloading o2mania now.

sure, it may not have the same kick as competing with other players online on o2jam, but at least it's the closest to it for now. stupid o2jam malaysia suddenly closed down...

well, i could also download o2jam nx from philippines. closest to malaysian version.

actually, i stopped playing way before the malaysian portal closed down. simply because the download patch stopped working for me. the download won't even start, let alone finish!

then, i tried audition. sure, it's not like beatmania, but i got the hang of it very quickly. however, when i went to level 15, the patches wouldn't finish installing either! it seemed like there was a curse on my computers. then again, i would have given it up anyway because of the super long servicing times.

9 Nov 2008

if you haven't heard of it yet, the subaru challenge already started yesterday. unlike the previous years, this year involves participants from other countries besides singapore, which means the winner may come from china, philippines, etc. why not just declare the winner of the car from each region, then let the winners compete in a final round for an even bigger price? at least none of the countries would come back empty-handed.

after snooping around ngee ann city today to check out the scene, my family went to watch Quantum of Solace. usually the complicated titles of some Bond movies make no sense or provide no relevance to the plot whatsoever. loosely translated, Quantum of Solace roughly means "a tiny amount of comfort". maybe it's linked to Casino Royale, when Bond's girlfriend...erm...i think you should find out yourself.

Quantum of Solace is jammed-packed with action; the beginning of the movie already plunges the audience into the middle of a chase. amid the violence, there are some parts of light humour, as well as emotional scenes. as always, Bond likes to show off his latest technology, and yet his style is still kind of classic, which is what made Bond so iconic.

7 Nov 2008

okay...things are getting a bit boring here.

just went to temasek club again this morning, played a wee little bit of squash(just a little bit, because my father wanted to play with his friend), then i'm back home. i've practised my piano, and now i'm in this current state: sitting in front of the macbook, blogging about how things have slowed down for me.

it's kind of weird now that the holidays are here. yes, i'm grateful that there's no more school, but now i find that i have less stuff to preoccupy myself with. i really feel the need to go and watch a movie, make music, etc. even trying to find ways to make this blog look interesting.

most people feel like this: at the start, you want everything to just whiz past, then near the end, you wish that the 'ordeal' would last longer. weird. and it may not just apply to school life.

4 Nov 2008

winding down

ahh... good to relax at home, while watching tv.

today's the last day of school. needless to say, everyone was in high spirits... until the teacher came in to tie up all loose ends. then all sec 2s went down to gather, after which we were given a talk by our year head. the "being the role models for the lower sec pupils as their seniors" speech has gone a bit old.

later, everyone was supposed to go to the hall for our headmaster's farewell... :'(

on the way, we saw the sec 4s letting loose -- literally, by releasing lots of balloons and confetti in the air, littering the sky with coloured dots. and scooby doo was giving away the balloons.

31 Oct 2008

i've got all my papers back. good news is that i passed, with 2 4.0s. bad news is that the other subjects(especially humanities) aren't really up to expectations...

ah well. doesn't really matter because i'll just take MEP as my contrasting subject. i'll probably get free periods in my time table. which means more time for homework/projects/revision.

good thing about sec 3 is that i can focus on my strong subjects. problem is that there's no more music, art or computer lessons anymore. however, i'll learn some new computer skills during the holidays. and focus more on music. i've been robbed of my practise time for so long during the mugging period.

23 Oct 2008

ahh... the nice feeling of staying at home, with no urgent matters to attend to.

sure, the exams are over, and lessons become redundant. but i still have one more matter to tackle in school.

today, before going for the checkup, i worked with my teammates in making a sound arrangement. ah well, if they make SONAR completely free and unlimited, it'll be a dream. audacity isn't really as userfriendly, while garageband isn't really built for audio editing, but mainly composition.

anyway, we worked on it, and after lunch i went for the checkup. why? next year during the first few days of 2009, all new sec 3s will be going for OBS. most other schools do this after exams, or in june. but RI specially reserved this early time slot, when it'll probably be still raining, and we'll probably drown in our tents. if there are any tents.

21 Oct 2008

*gasp* (2)

ok i'm just exaggerating. the papers weren't too bad --- they have no creases and funny smells, and the ink doesn't bleed through.

but i don't think i'll ace the tests. it always seems that in almost every test, there is at least one question in which i completely forgot how to answer, and i either have to leave it blank or put what i think sounds right.

ah well. that's all in the past. i can't change anything.

now i have other things to focus on. my friends and i formed a group to participate in some music competition. no performing here, just sound arrangement. basically, we have to only use one out of 3 possible genres of sounds to make some arrangement between 2 to 3 minutes. however, the sounds we're allowed to choose from are all weird sounds, which makes this task not as easy as it seemed.

10 Oct 2008

the madness begins...

i've tested the waters today. a bit chilly, but i think i'll survive and not freeze up.

it really irks me that so many schools have already finished their exams, while RI has just started today. i was listening to the radio, and there were so many dedications from students to classmates, saying things like, "SO GLAD THAT THE EXAMS ARE OVER! WOOHOO! XD" or "JUST ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!! WE'RE ALMOST THERE!!!"

well, last night, while i was mugging chinese, there was one guy from RI who shouted out to all RI boys to pull through the 2 weeks, and said that today's chinese test damn sian...

fast forward to today: i took both english + chinese papers. i think my essay is somewhat screwed. as for the chinese, a lot of people were saying that it was very easy; i'm not sure if i can say the same for myself...

4 Oct 2008

i need a little breather. a very short one.

quick update: (so short you won't need to click "more")

6 days to exams, mep practical done, mugging for other tests.

word of the day: stress!

and i'm done.

oh wait, i changed the game again. if you're wondering what the heck you're supposed to do, the objective is to indentify the object that is moving upwards. the catch: the unknown object is only revealed through a 1-pixel thick line, so it's hard to tell what the object is. also, the object can be a letter, picture, shape, number etc.

good luck trying to go through all levels.

and now i venture back into the thick jungle, trying to anticipate what lurks inside...

17 Sep 2008

oh my, it's been more than a week since my previous post. at least that's better than some dead blogs i've been to...

a little update of what happened:

all projects done with, now can mug without other matters on my mind. well, except for MEP practical. the one where someone was very very close to full marks, and would probably do the same this year.

my piece had to be slowed down before it could be within the stated time limit. not so good, because then it wouldn't sound as technically demanding. the speed i play is about 1.5 times as fast, but the actual speed is 3 times faster! (or 4)

4 Sep 2008

so far, so good

well, currently i'm managing the projects without major hiccups. less mess to clean up...

not in the mood to write that much tonight. tried out FFVII crisis core, kinda hard to pick up at first, but it gets fun once you get used to it. graphics are very good!

well, i'm ending right here. before i go, here's a random question which anyone can attempt to answer:

1 Sep 2008

1 week of...what?

tick. tock. the minutes are slowly dripping away from my hands. seems that the most precious things always get lost the easiest...

right now, the situation's in control. i'm almost done with one of the projects, going to move to the other one. and then there's the EOYs. gosh, i get very irritated just hearing that, and yet i emphasize it all the time, in every post.

i can't wait for the months to breeze past. i know that in december, near New Year's Day, i'll probably regret saying that. but that's human nature. whatever you don't want, sticks to you like a scab; you just can't wait for it to drop off your skin. whatever we all crave for, just disappears like a bursting bubble. quite a sad reality, i'll say. but who said life was fair anyway?

28 Aug 2008

at last, the CCTs are over! at least we can all get a breather. a very short holiday is better than no holiday, i guess.

but i still hate the fact that the teachers spammed all the assignments! it's freaking annoying! but this break is still beneficial to all of us: relieving stress improves your sleep, blood circulation, and even complexion.

no wonder students look like zombies, while teachers are pretty or handsome...

24 Aug 2008

olympics end

after a lot of excitement on tv, as well as a lot of missed tv shows, the olympics are finally coming to a close tonight. the closing ceremony may not be as elaborate as the opening ceremony, but at least it's still able to leave a deep impression on all the athletes.

after a mass display performance, it was 'spot the famous athelte' time: i only got a glimpse of Phelps. hmph. once again, i expect singapore to pop up on the tv screen much later.

it's not just the olympics that are coming to a close; the ccts are almost over too! well, most people have already finished, but not for me. there's still a mep test on tuesday.

21 Aug 2008

one last stretch...

i've just taken the bio test today. which leaves the mep test next week for last. yay. at least i finish with something which i'm good in!

but even though the ccts are almost done, the teachers spring up another surprise: 2 more projects! which means, if i'm not wrong, i now have 4 projects + assignments. which pile on top of the end-of-year exams. how nice. to top it of, everyone has to read a chinese book so we can prepare for the book test next year! what won't the teachers come up with next?

i feel so groggy after many weeks of agony. hopefully there's enough time for us to recover and prepare for the final wave. and teacher's day and the september hols will not be enough.

i definitely crave for the december holidays. we all do. kinda like how all ns-men crave for the ROD to come quickly.

17 Aug 2008

beijing olympics fever!!!!

wow, everyone's amazed that our table tennis team made it all the way to the finals. right now, they're showing the game live. to me, it's actually just china vs china, but it depends on which china team wins... hmm, currently singapore's leading in the 1st match for women's doubles, but not such a strong lead. there might be some hope! even if we don't win, we're still fine with silver, right? ...uh, right???

this whole week is packed with tests! monday has an essay, tuesday has 2 test, wenesday is chinese, thursday is another test. and friday's my RE presentation. i think... but even then, my group's still not ready.

uh oh, china's tied 8-8. yikes, they overtook s'pore! let's all hope our china - i mean, singapore team wins. seems that they're wearing out, or pressured because there are more people rooting for china than for them.

12 Aug 2008

olympics continue

ok so olympics are going on right now. heh, turns out team singapore only popped out as one of the last ten to 20 teams. how frustrating...

the heats aren't only happening in beijing; currently we are in the exam period, the very hostile period. this annual period of time can drive people crazy. and i mean everyone. students panic for many reasons: didn't study, not confident in passing, afraid to get humiliated etc. and teachers go beserk because they have to set all the questions and mark all the papers, some of them littered with pencil lead marks that don't resemble writing at all. parents go mad just urging their children to study for the sake of their future/family etc.

and guess what? in september, it's end-of-year exams! drives people to the brink of insanity, but at least it's the final sprint. before we start all over again next year. how comforting. maybe that's why the olympics aren't held every year: recovery.

8 Aug 2008

double celebrations

yay. today's the opening of beijing olympics. i'm watching the ceremony as i'm typing this now, and their performances are damn flawless! everything was so synchronised you can't help but wonder how much effort the performers put in to make this work! in fact, it's actually kinda scary; they are almost like robots...

REPORTING LIVE (starting from now):

right now, they started a new routing, where everybody's moving around big oar-like things, and creating nice patterns with them. it's kinda like simulating admiral cheng-ho exploring asia. for those who had been watching, the scroll-like thing's still there. ooh, now there's the chinese word for tea on the scroll. the boatmen, changed formation, and now there's another person probably acting as cheng-ho, and he's holding the old chinese compass. this is to show one of the many great inventions of china. wow, must be tiring moving those oars all around. ok, now they changed formation again, forming the shape of a boat.

the guy holding the compass is still standing there holding it above his head. he's walking around showing it off to everybody. now, chinese music comes in, and the painting which was halfway drawn (only viewers know what i'm talking about) returns. wow, now there's singing too! not too fond of that kind of singing though. now there's another guy completing another part of the painting, while a hell lot of people synchronise their movements again. huh? suddenly rows of maidens start walking out onto the stage. their costumes are quite elaborate and pretty. can't say the same for all the women themselves though... XP now there are people standing on pedestals carrying another type of instrument, the pipa i think. now the whoel place darkens and dragon pillars emerge beside the illuminated scroll. oh wait, the dragon pillars were the pedestals earlier on! hope the people on them aren't scared of heights! XD ooh, more fireworks! so preeeeeettteeeeeeeeee...

3 Aug 2008

darn. all of a sudden i had this big boil on my nose a few days ago. usually it takes longer for that to happen, but it did anyway, and it freaking hurt like hell! at least now it's subsiding and would probably look normal tomorrow.

well, at least this coming week there's no exam, which means more time to prepare for the rest of them. and there's beijing olympics + ndp. hmm, i think more people would be exicted about the $8m toto draw than the olympics...

right now the school's sorta trying to get everyone in the patriotic mood by playing national day songs during assembly, and it's getting a bit annoying. but who would care anyway? everyone's probably too busy mugging for exams + projects. to think that teachers still want to give assignments during exam period...

27 Jul 2008

boooooooooooooored... -_-

wow, feel so sian right now. but not for long; the tests are coming, and there's no stopping them. i've revised earlier, and i still feel bored. dunno why.

maybe because my bro and i are left alone in the house. my parents went over to my uncle's house to help out in renovation; that place is very old, and it's showing many signs of aging.

even though my cousin just came over, only he gets some entertainment. they usually play monster hunter freedom 2 together(i've tried that game, but got bored of it quickly). i, on the other hand, have spent like and hour just reading garfield comics online...

which is why i'm on this blog. i wouldn't keep that up for the rest of the day.

21 Jul 2008

saturday i received my diploma exam results. i was unsure of what to expect; i would already be happy if i passed. i took out the paper in the envelope and...

sorry if i killed any suspense there. however, when i looked again, i realised i got distinction by just 2 marks. then i wondered if the examiner was being lenient to me; any stricter and no distinction for me. yikes...

17 Jul 2008

gotta speed up

oh. my. god. i just remembered that there's still more homework to do! argh!!! now i have to quickly finish them before i'm screwed when i come back to school... > <

right now i'm at temasek club again, with the same laptop but sitting at a different table. still near the pool, though. later i still have to go to some chinese library and finish up HOLIDAY HOMEWORK. sigh. and after lunch is another practice session with my partner for mep performance. another sigh. and then i have to do the Merchant of Venice Act 2 quiz. big sigh.

what a day. i read the newspaper horoscope today and it said that i would be able to overcome all the work, no matter how overwhelming it is. hope the horoscope's accurate...

14 Jul 2008

phew! all projects have been settled - i think. and now we have a week long break to relax. but with every long break, there would be holiday work. sianz...

well, last night was the ri guitar ensemble concert. we performed at the lee foundation theater at nafa, and we all did very well. considering that most of the sec 1s were all newbies, they were quite good. the rest also sounded good, although some of them did make a few errors.

10 Jul 2008

more pixels!

sigh.. dunno what else to post today, so i just put up my latest pixel creations. this time i used smileys.

29 Jun 2008

pixel mania

well i couldn't think of anything to talk about on the previous post(and didn't have the time), so i just posted those tips instead. not much happened anyway.

last night i tried my hand at making pixel art. in case you don;t know anything about it, pixel art is the art of making bitmap images using pixels. you could just infer from the name itself. anyway i did some silly image since the internet browser was lagging like crazy. and i mean crazy not only because it's mega slow, but because it doesn't lag only for some websites.

27 Jun 2008

make your blogs neater!

most of my friends' blogs - no, all of them aren't really very tidy(sorry guys). it's usually filled with tiny text that you have to squint at, or stretched like a ruuber band by very long posts.

so i have 2 tips for you to make the blog a little bit more elegant(great now i sound like mr jee). click below to see them.

26 Jun 2008

what a day...

today there was a fire drill. too bad it didn't happen an hour later; it would have been chinese period. anyway it happened at the beginning of english period instead, and we all evacuated to the parade square (the place where we assemble every morning). everyone was complaining that it happened too soon.

anyway we sat down on the ground, right under the scorching sun. it was so hot, it felt like we were sitting near the fire instead. after a while, people were fooling around. they were poking and tickling each other, yakking away about random stuff, or playing music on their phones.

that should only be done on facebook, windows im and windows media player respectively.

25 Jun 2008

i'm back

well that was shorter than i expected. i've only been away for 3 days.

quick summary of what happened so far: 1st week of school, new science teacher, relief maths teacher(quite lax), getting new english teacher, took new south wales test today, switched to new classroom(someone else sprained his foot and is on crutches), half of the back wall is mouldy(yucks!), and i returned to my blog.

the students at the nsw test were irritating! at first everyone was talking loudly, and when the teacher asked everyone to keep their lips shut, some students hushed the others. but then a few jokers started imitating them and started their mass attack of 'shh's. it was either one problem or the other.

22 Jun 2008

farewell for now

sigh.. tomorrow it's back to school. i would probably not have that much time to blog then.

so tomorrow onwards, the blog would probably be dead for a very long time. but i will return. so in advance, goodbye till then...

21 Jun 2008

things heat up...

now that half the year's gone, things are going to heat up. a lot.

first, the exams come right after the holidays, waiting to strike students when they least expect it. no mercy shall be given, not even to the weakest of the pack.

second, this is the time when sec 2s also start worrying about things other than the dilema mentioned above. 'tis the time when they also start thinking about their future... well, maybe just the next 2 years. after the class gets disbanded, who are they going to end up with next? would things get better or worse (i hope it's not the latter) after becoming 'seniors' of the school?

this is also the time when everyone hopes that december comes quickly. this often happens after june. usually they get more than they ask for, and december disappears just as quickly.

20 Jun 2008

3 more days

isn't life sad? the things you cherish the most seem to disappear the most, yet the things you wish would vanish just drag on and on...

the holidays are fading fast. everyone is scrambling around trying to savour what's left of it, maybe by going to east coast park / wild wild wet / sentosa at the very last minute, or training their character on runescape / maplestory / WoW / ragnarok etc. as much as they can before they do not have any time to touch the computer at all.

but before they can do all of that, they have to get rid of all the homework. which is a very very big pain. that's why everyone's probably settling everything related to schoolwork at fast as they can. maybe that's why nobody's coming to my blog at all... :(

19 Jun 2008

what holiday?

sigh... already the holidays are slipping away like water from your hand. as always, the moment we return to school, someone would say,'hope you enjoyed your holiday.' come on, even we know you're groaning inside in agony. there was no holiday to begin with!

as you get older, june just seems to become a spamming period for teachers to dump whatever they can find onto you. you actually become more stressed than when you are in school! it's very silly; the teachers think that in order to not make you slack (hello, what are holidays for???), they give you something to do so that your brain doesn't rot away as you stare at your television/computer/psp etc. i know that, but i think they take things too far. just give us a few short assignments, not numerous deadlines to keep us busy ALL holiday!

with the amount of work the teachers dump on us, i'd rather go back to school. wait, is that what they're planning to do?

15 Jun 2008

great! my diarrohea's gone! and i can finally eat normally again (although i'm still avoiding dairy products).

well i'm at temasek club again, at the exact same spot where i was the last time doing this. the lifeguard's different though. and there's a lot more people in the pool, since this is the weekend.

last night, my family had a short movie marathon in the comfort of our home. first was the forbidden kingdom. turns out the plot wasn't as bad as i expected. the only thing that sucked was the subtitles that came with it. basically, the movie's about this guy, a kungfu fan, who was given this nice staff, but did not realise that it was a portal to ancient china (or as they keep calling it in the movie, middle kingdom). turns out, the staff belongs to the powerful monkey king (aka Sun Wu Kong) who has been turned into a statue. being the "seeker of the staff", he was supposed to use the staff (with the help of a few people)to break this curse and bring the jade emperor back too.

14 Jun 2008

i don't believe it. i still have the diarrohea and i'm even starting to get a sore throat.

today, i went for guitar again. as i entered the room, i suddenly felt cold and started to get a headache. i even felt a bit drowsy. it was very annoying and painful at the same time.

after that, my partner and i went back to my house for another practice session. the headache still hadn't subsided at all, and i was tolerating it for a long time. once again, i didn't have the appetite to eat as much food as i used to. when we arrived home, the headache went down a little, but it still persisted on.

11 Jun 2008

i didn't have such a good day yesterday. in fact, it was really horibble.

the moment i woke up that morning, my stomach already did not feel right. something was defintely wrong. was i going to throw up?

i tried to eat my breakfast, but for some reason i couldn't eat as much as i used to. and after that, i actually puked. and then i had many bouts of diarrohea. my parents suspected that i might have food poisoning. to think that this would happen on the day of my piano exam...

9 Jun 2008

one more day...

this it it. tomorrow's the exam. no turning back.

wish me lots and lots of luck. i'm feeling prepared, but i'm going to practise again later for safe measure. after the exam, i still have to practise with my partner in the late afternoon for the performance.

what performance? well, the mep students have to perform with another student in front of the rest. and it's graded.

my partner plays the violin, but he warned me that he's a bit insecure with the high notes. at least he warned me first...

brace for impact!

oh boy... tomorrow i'm going to the studio to practise on their piano --- for the last time. then it's up to me to improve everything to the max.

my piano exam's in 3 days, and i'm feeling the pressure. i'm already prepared for the worst, but i still have to do my best.

there is a good chance that i would pass, but we all know murphy's law. still, i do sound pessimistic, and some people would probably tell me if i think i would fail, then i will fail. i wouldn't want to lose sleep over this matter, which is one reason why i'm opening up about all of this to you. it won't be good if i bottle everything up inside me...

6 Jun 2008

4 more days...

yikes! my piano exam's 4 days away! i dunno if i would pass the exam, but hopefully i would...

my ankle's a bit better now, and i can run a bit faster, but it's still a bit stiff. and the skin is recovering a bit, but some bits are still peeling. it would probably be okay before the exam.

sigh... one last session with my teacher on sunday, and that's it. and monday's the last chance for me to fix everything. this is so stressful...  X(

5 Jun 2008

the world is ending...

recently, my brother and i tried out the ds game "The World Ends With You". and we're loving it!

well basically, you play a guy called neku who's stuck in the reapers' game. you have to fight monsters called Noise with your partner. you control neku with the stylus, while at the same time controlling your partner in the top screen with the buttons. because it's very hard to do both things at the same time, my brother and i usually control each different player. otherwise, we just let the partner control itself (which is so much easier).

blog on the go

ok this is my first time blogging out of my house. brought my bro's laptop along...

my parents just finished playing squash, and since i can't do any physically strenuous activity yet, i just read the chinese book that would be tested on after the hols. this is one of the reasons why the hols don't really feel like a holiday...

after a while, since i still have a lot of time before we leave, i just thought of surfing the net for a while. and post something.

you know, we are actually at temasek club, and the squash court is deserted (except for some people who want it to stay, including my parents). i don't know how much longer they can keep this up, but sooner or later it would be torn down anyway...

cast away!

yay the leg cast finally came off! XD

aside from the peeling skin, and the slightly smaller size, everything's fine. but now my ankle's a bit stiff, so i still can't move it a lot.

at least now i can bathe without having to put a plastic bag around the leg...

wow, the sky's getting dark very quickly. and somehow my internet's getting a little berserk: it won't let me play youtube videos! X( (well sometimes it does, but it usually doesn't even load it...)

guess i have to look for another video portal.

3 Jun 2008

yay! (2)

tomorrow i'm getting tid of the cast! (for real)
but tomorrow i have to wake up early, so i'm goin to bed right now...

How do you know if an elephant is hiding under your bed?
Your nose is touching the ceiling.

2 Jun 2008

sorry made some mistakes: the cast only comes on wenesday (2 days later), and the history meeting's tomorrow. and i forgot to bring the tickets.

what tickets? well, i'm in the school's guitar ensemble, or GE. (used to be in string ensemble [SE], but it was too stressful for me...) and this year, the school's having some arts event in which all the cca performance groups are supposed to have some concert. because of that, everyone in GE has to go and sell tickets for the concert. the tickets were very well designed, though. anyway, the tickets cost $10 (standard price, a bit expensive for concerts of the same level), and today the seniors had their second round of money collection. during the first round, i wasn't attending the session due to my injury, so i forgot about the tickets.

1 Jun 2008

wow i finished my philo project. now for two more projects and many more exams...

2 more days and the cast comes off! i don't think my leg would look good after this; i already see some of my skin peeling off at the toes. yikes! once it comes off, i'd probably need to apply a lotion on it so that my skin can recover. well at least i won't have to wrap a plastic bag around the leg before i take a shower...

i'm making some progress for my geog project, but nothing's going on for my history project. so far, they've only had one meeting (at least i think they had), and i don't know what went on then.

by the way, i'm watching "Super Size Me" right now, which will show later tonight at 10 on arts central. which is why i'm watching it online. i'd rather watch it now than stay up until midnight. this saves me a lot more time!

maybe i'll talk about the documentary tomorrow...

31 May 2008

in control so far

well, i've managed to do whatever i could with my filing of all my school stuff. because of my fractured ankle, i couldn't be in school to get back my files so i can file away the rest of my stuff. so now the leftovers are stuffed in a big folder for now...

my chinese blog has also been finished! i don't really care if it doesn't look fanciful; as long as there is suitable content, and everything on the blog is working, then i'm fine with it. (you could come visit the blog if you want from my profile, but i don't think it's worth your time...)

30 May 2008

11 more days (and counting)

bleah... my piano's exam's very close...
in case you don't know, i'm having an ATCL diploma piano exam on June 10th. and it's been so long since my grade 8 exam...
if you're wondering, here's the pieces i'm playing:

Bach Tocatta in E minor
Beethoven 32 Variations in C Minor
Chopin Fantasie Impromptu in C# Minor (!!!)
Poulenc Novelettes 1 and 2

yup you didn't see wrongly; i do have to play fantasie impromptu for the exam! it may be a fun piece to learn, and a nice way to suan people, but it's a totally different matter when it comes to the exam...

i'd already be happy if i pass the exam, much less worry about exceling in it. wish me luck...

(geez... very few people are seeing my blog... i'll find a way to direct more traffic...)

28 May 2008

tomorrow i'm going around hougang for the geog project.

tomorrow i'm going to practise my piano.

tomorrow i'm going to do all the homework i missed.

tomorrow i'm going to play.

tomorrow's a big day.

which is why i'm sleeping after this.

good night... zzz

"Hey John! You got a bag full of chickens there?"

"Gosh, I like eating chickens, but I'm broke..."

"Don't worry, Sam! If you guess the number of chickens in the bag correctly, I'll give both of them to you!"

"Okay! Err... five?"

okay... (2)

well, so far cloud strife likes the TooK widget. i wonder how the others find it?

ok i'm almost done with the other blog; all i have to do now is to add a bit more content and that's it!

wow, the sky's really getting grey now, even after the rain...

6 more days before the cast comes off, 13 more days to my piano exam, 16 more days till friday the 13th (!)...

i better get started!

27 May 2008

ok so i recently made the class blog widget! super easy to make and embed!
it's been a week since i had the cast on. and it's a week more to go before it comes off. also, i created the blog for the book review, but it's still kinda empty...
so i think i'll work on it later...

the cast is starting to peel. parts of it started dropping off today!

hmm... i wonder if blogger can display chinese text... :\

omg suddenly i'm feeling sleepy...

whoopee i'm almost ready to create the blog for the book review. now to decide how it should look like...

ok so i changed the game on the blog cos it gets annoying whenever someone accesses my blog and hears the music from the game everytime. this one, Music Catch, doesn't make any sound when it starts up, but you would have to stop any flash applications that are emitting sound (even if they're in mute)

by now, people would have known about the caption contest in the sunday times. so i was thinking, would it be fun to have a similar thing on my class blog? maybe later i'll go and discuss with blubber. (no capitaland vouchers involved)

some of the winning entries weren't really that funny. i checked the chew on it blog and found that some of the other entries were actually funnier and wittier than the winner, which seems odd.

i'll go and check on the class blog later...

One day a man walked into a bar and said, "Ouch!"

25 May 2008

tomorrow i have to go for guitar... sianz...

okay this is going to be a short one.

i missed school for 7 days (including tuesday), but i heard from my classmates that during the last week there wasn't much homework anyway. probably because the teachers were handing back everything they marked and explaining all the holiday assignments.

geez, i dunno how i'm going to climb all the way to the 3rd floor tomorrow. especially while carrying my guitar. well at least i'm just going to go through this agony for 2 weeks, and soon the cast would be off! :)

24 May 2008

ok i have to make this a short one because i've only 30 minutes left before bed!

whoopee i finished reading the book for the book review! but only because i had so much spare time today; my parents went to play squash and brought me along, and since i can't do anything with my broken leg, i might as well read the book so i can get started. it took me 4 hours, and by then my eyes felt a little bit groggy, and i had only one chapter left.

darn...monday i have to go for guitar sessions (even though i think they want me to rest) and i have to climb up to the 3rd storey (still with my broken ankle) to the classroom for practice! X( but i've already memorised the pieces for the concert a long time ago, so the practice seems to waste time, but then again a little revision wouldn't hurt, right? :)

23 May 2008

last day of school

okay... school ended a few minutes ago. i can imagine the cheers from all the ri boys who are probably frantically rushing out to the bus stop, mcdonalds or whatever. maybe except for those with cca. however, it's awfully quiet in my house; my parents went to singapore expo for some adidas sale, so i'm home alone again. right now, only the fan in the computer room's making the noise here. otherwise, it would be the sound of the tv or the piano when i'm practising.

20 May 2008

today they changed my cast, and now i can put my weight on it, which means i can walk around again! (somehow)

took some mep test later that afternoon, and everyone was like, 'what happened to that leg?' 'did it hurt?' 'can i test out those crutches?' people are suddenly very concerned about me, which rarely happens. even the teacher (ms goh) wanted to shift the test to the hols, but since i had to pass by ri anyway, i might as well get this over with.

oh yeah, my medical leave got extended to the hols! :) but i'm still left with those holiday assignments... they even have assignments in the dec hols!!! >< Blubber to let me be a contributor for the class blog.

although i'm not sure if i have anything worthy to put in the blog... :(

19 May 2008

2nd post

ok... my 2nd post...
i'm still stuck with my broken ankle, but at least it's recovering. hopefully on tuesday i wouldn't need the cast...
well, today's vesak day. but it's just a one day holiday to me.
not that vesak day is utter rubbish to me, but that it's not so important to me or my family.

just remembered: i have to do some chinese book review in the form of a blog or website. the former seems easier to me, so maybe later i'd create another blog here for this assignment.

18 May 2008

wheeee i got my own blog! :)
great... so this is my 1st post....i'm still stuck with my broken ankle...
*sigh* just wish it recovers soon so i can stop hobbling around with my clutches (puts a strain on my right leg)
the only good thing is that my arms get stronger... and i would hop better than anyone else.
wow this post is kinda short...

[signing off]
